Notes from the Board
The Napa-Solano Audubon Society (NSAS) is a conservation group committed to monitoring local bird populations, and preserving local biodiversity and habitat needed for birds to feed and nest. You can learn about the NSAS and its activities and mission from Wendy Schackwitz, President of the NSAS at the July 26, 2014 meeting of the Vallejo Heights Neighborhood Association (VHNA).
Vallejo’s location near Mare Island and the tidal salt and fresh water marshes that provide habitat for numerous bird species is also ideal for birders. During Winter months migrating birds find the local wetlands hospitable. VHNA, and NSAS member, Robin Leong, is also an experienced birder. He leads birding outings during the Fly Way Festival held in February on Mare Island and on many NSAS field trips during the year.
The July 26, 2014 meeting will be at the Bay Terrace Theater, 51 Daniels Avenue in Vallejo from 10:00 am to Noon. Enjoy refreshments and Moschetti Coffee with VHNA members. Also, bring a neighbor with you to meet Ms. Schackwitz and learn about the NSAS. Her enthusiasm for birding is contagious!
